Local TV Channels not Working

Local TV Channels by Greenfield. I called Dish and they said they are not aware of any issues with local channels nationwide or at Rancho Murieta. They said Greenfield is the only one who could address that issue.

I called again and spoke to a different person to verify it and they said the same thing.

Greenfield

Yes Gary, I believe Dish, Greenfield blames all their problems on someone else all the time...problem is this company is not reliable, never has been....we have had problems with them from the start !!!!  Thanks to RMA who sold us out to this unreliable company !!!!!!!

RMA Where are you?

This issue has been going on for days with NO response from RMA.  RMA - where are you? Do you still represent us on this Greenfield issue? Why are you not checking into this and responding?

I called Greenfield! to talk to a tech person..

I just called Greenfield to speak to a tech person about this supposed issue with Dish...and spoke to an answering service! I told her I wanted to speak to a tech person and she took my info and told me I'll hear from someone maybe today, maybe tomorrow! This is NOT 24/7 tech support. I'm assuming there is no one at the office..I called a previous Saturday to check whether people are there on the weekend, and got the same answering service.

I am a member of the Communications Committee, and am disturbed by what is happening. I also have a friend who has Dish not conmected with Greenfield, and she told me she is having no issues with the local channels or with her set top box. So, what is going on? I'd sure like to know..

Thank you RMA and Greenfield

I have enjoyed my Memorial Day weekend so far.  The cartoon channel is crytal clear and or course all of those talking heads on cable yelling and screaming at each other is a treat.  So what if I missed the golf on NBC and ABC (local channels).  Hopefully the NBA playoffs will not be affected.  It sure is nice to get your moneys worth for $76.  Oh well back to watching the only local channel working, CHANNEL 3 SCROLL.!!!!

Greenfield, additional information

On Friday past, my husband called Jaime Espinosa, the superintendant of Greenfield and advised him of the problems the community is having....he said he was not in the community at that time....so they knew/know of our problems and did nothing to fix it !!!!  As you can read, we do not have any emergency service out here....so I guess the attitude is, to bad folks !!!!!

Nothing but lies!

I have it on very good authority that  (as most of us thought) the issue is NOT Dish, it's Greenfield.  You blatantely lied to us Greenfield.  I concure with the person who asked where RMA is.  Do the board members not live out here or do they just not give a damn. Maybe it's time our community came together and elect board members who truly represent us.  And, shame on you Greenfield!  You knew on Friday there was an issue and did nothing.  According to my source, the only two technicians with Greenfield who knew anything about these kinds of issues were fired.  Instead of making sure there are people on board who know how to deal with types of issues they now have no one.  What kind of business are you running Mike Powers?  Also, I expect to see a credit on our bill since we are not getting the service we are paying for.

A Buyers' Strike?

So, is ir RMA or Greenfield who takes a loss if we all decide to cancel for a  month or more to make a certain point?  And why is it that I cannot Google up anything about this supposed software  breakdown on Dish's end?  hmmm?  Wouldn't millions be affected on this HUGE sports weekend, and wouldn't the internet be on fire?  I'm going to start shopping satellite services.  Rewarding this utter disregard of customer service with my money does not go down well. We have been tolerant too long.   Let the Invisible Hand of the market do its number on the incompetent and the indifferent.  it's nature's way.

No local channels on DISH Network through Greenfield

I have DISH Network through Greenfield with Hopper & Joey, and do not have local channels.  As I understand it, the problem is supposedly due to a DISH software update on their commercial account end, which is preventing DISH servers from "talking" with Greenfield servers to ascertain where we are located and what local channels we should receive.  If you have DISH through a residential account - i.e. non-Greenfield, that isn't a problem.

In any event, I purchased an HD antenna and am getting local channels flawlessly (and with an even better picture). This problem is giving me impetus to "cut the cord" and ditch DISH altogether and go with a combo HD antenna  and streaming service such as Sling or DirectNow, and save probably $100 or so a month.

Greenfield Contract?

What exactly does the contract with Greenfield say about outages, lack of service etc.  Are there any consequences?  I think I read that the contract is for 14 years.  Who signs a contract for 14 years?  What recourse do we users have if any?

Local Channels

Over a year ago I switched  to using an HD antenna which, I can receive 40 channels for free off air and also stream channels using "Set Tv Now" that gives me 500 channels @ $20 a month.

Response from Greenfield

This is the response I received from Greenfield concerning the service outage that still continues for some customers:

"On Thursday, May 24th, Greenfield began experiencing difficulty provisioning set top boxes for residents at Rancho.  Dish Network was contacted and stated they had implemented a nationwide upgrade of their back office systems and that bulk dealers nationwide were experiencing set top box issues. Later that day we experienced some channels in the basic lineup to either be lost or appear on other channels.

As Dish sent out various software fixes the problems only seemed to get worse.  This morning all local channels were down.  In the last hour Dish sent another software update to their dealers that has since caused all bulk channels to go down.  The latest update from Dish is that they are working on another software fix.

We have asked Dish for a letter to explain the issues.  Expanded digital customers at Rancho do not appear to be impacted by this nor do Dish customers who live outside of Rancho who have satellite dishes. We have a technician on site in case any of the software fixes require action in the local Headend.

We apologize for this significant inconvenience to the residents at Rancho who are impacted by this but unfortunately the issue is completely outside of our control.  Dish has assured us that the highest levels of management are working on this issue.  According to our Dish rep the system they had been using was 32 years old and the transition to a new system has gone very poorly."

Response from Greenfield —Joanne Brandt

Did Mike Powers in His statement say Rancho Murieta was effected by the dish network? He only said"Rancho? Does that mean Rancho Cucamonga? Rancho Cordova? Rancho Mirage? Mike Power's said in that  statement posted by Joanne Brandt clearly shows in the email, He does not show any respect to our needs in "Rancho Murieta"! Only that we are just Rancho!? Mike Power showed us what? That, you did not  care about our community and out of respect" Spell out our community as "Rancho Murieta"! that was impacted by the dish network! I find it offense that as a communty that Mike Powers could not call us out by our name! Rancho Murieta! Get it right!

RMA and Greenfield Contract

Nice work, Wilbur. Analysis of that contract may reveal why RMA, BoD, GM and Communications Committee Chair always run interference for Greenfield's monumental screwups over the past two+ years, over the numerous complaints of RMA members' cable customers. Never once has RMA sided with the membership; its always about allowing Greenfield to state "not our problem, somebody else did it". The latest Puerto street devastation for "retrenching fiber cable" was laughed away by Greenfield's so-called "customer service" as an RMA-caused problem, despite Greenfield's screw-up of the original fiber cable trenching installation. How many more miles of Murieta streets devastation will those adjacent residents need to incur when resurfacing and therefore required cable retrenching comes due in those areas? And it will. What will Greenfield's next excuse be for cable signal programming failure vis a vis the latest Dish Abbott and Costello "who's on first" Act lies? Direct TV, ATT, Mars/Moon alignment?  How many times has Greenfield been called on for contractual violations, and yes, breach (hint: never).  Is that contract fatally flawed?

Greenfield - Lack of service credit

Hey Folks:  We contacted Greenfield during the service outage and they nicely agreed (yes we have it in an email) to give us credit on our bill for the days that our TV cable was out.  If you lost service during that downtime period and have not contacted Greenfield about a credit, you might want to do so.  If every time service goes down in Rancho Murieta, residents ask for a refund credit, it might provide more incentive for the company to get the problem fixed quickly.

Still a few software update problems

RMA received notification from Greenfield, documented by DISH, that there are still problems with the software update. One problem specifically is with set top boxes and is this continues to affect Greenfield service calls.

RMA has been working with Greenfield for several months on better ways to communicate directly with the community, hopefully through our community e-blast system.

As the latest TV outage showed, it is important for RMA to be able to let the community know quickly important information when an emergency occurs. For those effected by the TV outage, it was an emergency and became even more so because of the lack of information.  There could be other emergencies that could impact even more members of the community.

If you are not a member of our community e-blast system, please become a member. Go to RanchoMurieta.org and click on “Sign In”. It will take you to a 2nd page where you can become a member.

Re-scan

Yes Jacque...re-scan works...but why should we have to re-scan our tvs, every month or so as it seems, when Greenfield screws something up? I'm ready for a new provider.
