The security log said there was mostly no speeding or running stop signs..

I laughed when I read last week's security log that most of the time they used rader, there was no infractions. What a joke...do they Park out in the open where they can be seen?? Every single time I walk the streets, which is at least 4 days a week, I'd say 95% of the people speed and almost no one stops completely at the stop signs. So, I'd like to know,  what the heck are they doing???

Speeding and Stop Sign cites

Myrna, I think when you see the next logs come out you will be supprised to see more cites given for speed and stop signs....on 7/30, 14 cites for speed and stop signs.  Also on 7/28 cites sent.

Speeding & stop sign citations

I also walk to the North Gate twice a week and am amazed at the speeders easily doing 30 and 35 mph and the vehicles that roll thru the stop signs.  It's quite obvious the difference between going 25 and who is going 30+.  Sad thing as it's both residents and visitors as I am walking facing traffic which allows me to see if there's a bar code or not.

And yes Jacque, from what I've been reading on Facebook & NextDoor there have been quite a few people upset with speeding & stop sign citations.

While I am glad this finally seems to be a concern and issue to more residents, I have to say hearing that they are ticketing people going 27 mph is a little absurd and extreme.  Yes while 27 mph is "speeding" by definition, it is just too close to 25 to require a speeding citation.

As for stop signs, a week ago while walking with a friend to the North gate which we do twice a week, we stood there and talked at the Gazebo corner and I was facing the stop signs. I did not count the number of cars but within those 5 minutes one car did a complete stop. Others slowed down to a crawl and then went thru, some I bet even thought they stopped but they hadn't, and others barely slowed down and kept going. Age group...I'd say anywhere from 30 to 70 yrs old (same goes for the speeders, no specific age group).

Speeding

Nothing changes, even after 25 years! Murieta South Parkway near the gate is a racetrack! Can't back out of your own driveway! Impatient drivers, late for school or work. We're all sick of you.

Get out of bed earlier please.

LET'S ALL DO OUR PART

LET'S ALL DO OUR PART TO MAKE THIS A GREAT COMMUNITY.....do we have to have a child killed by someone speeding before we do something?  I have gotten a speeding ticket before....I was mad but I deserved it....I was running late.............IT MADE ME SLOW DOWN and leave earlier......One young man in a fast car sped up Jackson, passing everyone. I saw the driveway he pulled out of and stopped to tell his parents....they said, "Not my boy".  I let them know they could take care of it or the CHP could, it was up to them.....I never saw him speeding up Jackson again......take pictures with your phone........let's start posting the speeder.  If it's me speeding, I may get made because I was caught... too bad for me! I would deserve the ticket!!!!  ADULTS SLOW DOWN AND TEENAGE DRIVERS SLOW DOWN!!!!

Talk about speeding! You take your life in your hands if you take a walk on the path between north and south with all the golfers speeding out to play their latest round of lousy golf :)

Pedestrian Bridge

Totally agree Bunky, my friend and I see this too when walking the path.  My golf cart doesn't go that fast but after reading a comment a year or so after it opened, either here or the RVT, about carts driving fast by pedestrians, chilren and dogs it made me slow down.  So anytime I come up upon a person I slow down and if they have a dog I slow even further as I don't want to freak the dog out.

speeding

Right Beth. Most cart drivers are courteous enough to take the pedal off the metal when passing pedestrians, but many others just blast on by. And the 10 Mile per hour signs recently erected dont seem to be a deterrent. Maybe some speed bumps are in order? Or some signs stating "please reduce speed for pedestrians"? Shame that some have to be reminded of common courtesy.

Thank you Bunky, I thought those signs were new but wasn't sure.

Really Myrna? Facts or backroom progressive Truth-o-meter? So let's install speedbumps every 10' and post wheel-sniffing tire cops at every stop sign. ...and waterboard offenders....or maybe pressure parental control of the true very few offenders?...just thinkin'

These are my observations over 32 years

Really Terry, attack my politics? Have you read the other comments that agree with what I said...except I didn't say anything about speed bumps. You don't have to be an expert, just open your eyes, look at the road and watch people speeding and not stopping at stopnsigns..that is how I came to my conclusions..it's really basic..

Common Courtesy

I think that is one of the problems.....we get a little self-involved and forget that we need to show respect for other people.....thanks for the reminder Bunky....hurting a child or animal is too late.

Most golfers

Most South golfers use the south course to commute to the CC. The cart traffic in question are not necessarily CC members. The south has well below 200 members, most of whom are NOT golf members. Blaming speeding carts on CC members is comical. Are you checking their stickers on the way by?

I doubt it.

Just a hunch

Maybe because they had golf clubs on the back of their carts? Just a hunch.

Hunch

Ever heard of the non members club? You know, poachers who don't pay or belong. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about!

Just a question, everything you post is derogatory about the club. Why? I'm sure the community would like to know. Have you ever been a member? I don't recall ever seeing your name on the members roster. In 25 years.

Enlighten us please. We would all like to know.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Poachers? Are you insinuating that I am some sort of "poacher". Please explain. All I know is that many people are speeding passed me on the cart path between the south and north as I take walks. I assume many are golfers, because they have golf clubs on their carts, but many are young people, who havent a clue about common courtesy...among others, and something should be done about it. Thats it.

Yes Golfers

I'm with Bunky on this one.  When my friend and I were walking the pedestrian path to the South during the winter/spring months around 9am we had about 3 older men that wouid drive their golf carts at top speeds and from knowing my own slow 13 MPH cart theirs went well above that.  The other couple golf carts were younger guys maybe in their 20's/30's my assumption was they maybe worked at the Club or the Plaza as it was the same couple.

As for taking a short cut thru the South Course, maybe these guys live towards the back of the South and found it easer to take the pedestrian bridge and then jump on the North Course at the 2nd T, as I do see people do that on occasion.

Just because

Just because a cart has a golf bag does not necessarily mean they belong to the CC. To assume every cart you see with bag belongs to the CC is just wrong. I see many carts with bags and NO CC identification, meaning bag tag or cart sticker. Just saying.

I'm not saying there are not offenders. Do you two have a problem with bicycles and well? Just curious. And let us not forget that a huge percentage of homeowners own carts and play golf. But are not CC members. Bunky singled out CC members in his initial comments.

Yes some bicycles

Yes there has been at least one person we encountered that does ride their bike fast like they are in a race.  It's pretty alarming when they're coming up behind you while walking and say on your left (or right).  There's one person that at least rings a bell to let you know he's approaching.

I think all I will add to this is, please be considerate of walkers and especially walkers with dogs when driving your cart or bike.  Slow down when you approach them...then if you want go back up to 20 but at least think how this feels to them.

Beth,

Wish I could believe common courtesy would prevail. Let's hope so. Sadly, too many people are in too big of a hurry.

I did NOT "single out CC members". I said "golfers". I do not appreciate you embellishing my comments.... do not put words in my mouth. And yes, bicyclists that fly by, from behind without warning, are also a problem.

I would say since they're not speeding out the gate to play at Mather or Wildhawk you were referring to CC members. Or with your verbiage so it appears. If not my apologies.

poachers

But then you told me it couldnt be CC members and must be "poachers". What is it?
