Tiny Flea Looking Bugs In Neighborhood?

This is my first post to this forum, prompted by the sudden appearance of tiny, flea looking insects in my home. Eventually realized they're also swarming all over the outdoor window screens, so I'm thinking this may not be a problem specific to my house, but rather a neighborhood issue? I just moved from Shreveport, LA, and had a similar issue there...during semi warm, humid, moist days in the fall, I'd have similar looking insects swarming the outside of my home. Thus I'm thinking the somewhat warmer temps and humidity brings these critters out?

No bugs here

Jeffrey,

We've lived in the community, on Puerto Drive, for 20 years, and we've never experienced the bugs you describe. Maybe it is something particular to your property. In any case, welcome to Rancho Murieta. (As for your other post, our particular bugaboo isn't golf-cart music but rather people who don't pick up after their dogs while walking them around our community lakes. We think dogs are wonderful, but these inconsiderate owners sure aren't.)

Bugs in RM ???

I'm a 30 plus year resident and I got no bugs here....of course I have a pest control service...the only bugs we see outside are the midge flies during the summer....get a pest control service and show them the "bugs" they can figure out what they are ......good luck. Welcome to RM.

Almost sounds like front lake midge flies

Welome to the community!  We've been here 13 years on the 14th fairway and have never had bugs like that.  However, our townhome owners down on the front lake are invaded every year by swarms of midge flies and it sounds much like what you describe.  We've been working really hard to eradicate - or at least diminish - them.  Do you live near any standing water?  Maybe some of them can weigh in here and let you know if your bugs sound like their bugs.

RE: Bugs

Thanks for the replies. After doing a lot of research, I've narrowed it down to several different types of insects, but with some common characteristics. Commonalities being that they all thrive on moisture and decaying organic matter. We live right next to a pond, just off Puerto, and that's likely part of the problem. The bugs are ONLY on the two sides of the house which more-or-less face the pond. Plus there were some dead potted plants near that part of house which were providing moisture and decaying organic matter to the pesky critters, so got rid of those. Sprayed all the screens and windowsills with OFF as well, after vacuuming up all the bugs on the screens. My efforts appear to have worked, as the bugs are gone. For now at least. But yeah, we just bought this house and need to find a good pest control person I think.
