Seven cars were broken into overnight in Murieta North, Security reported late Thursday afternoon, and the owners lost a camera, sunglasses and cash.
Security Chief Greg Remson said all of the cars were parked in driveways and apparently were unlocked. There were two incidents on Lago Drive, one on Brisa Lane, one on Trinidad Court and three on Guadalupe Drive.
The items taken included a Canon brand camera and Smith brand sunglasses, he said.
"This is another reminder to lock your cars, and do not leave any valuables inside," Remson wrote in an e-mail. "If possible, park your car in the garage. With the holidays approaching, remember, do not leave gifts inside the car or in the trunk."
He asked that residents report any suspicious activity to Security dispatch at 354-2773 (CARE) or 354-3743. For an in-progress crime, call 911 immediately.
Already this year has seen three dozen similar incidents -- 17 on the South in one night in May, seven in one night in April on the North and more than a dozen on the North in March.
