The Sacramento Valley Conservancy offers a unique opportunity to observe bats and then view the stars Saturday, Aug. 11, starting at 7 p.m. at Deer Creek Hills, the oak woodland preserve that adjoins Rancho Murieta on the north. Bat biologist and CSUS professor Winston Lancaster begins the evening with an introduction to California bats. After the sun goes down, the Sacramento Valley Astronomical Society provides telescopes and plenty of knowledge for an evening of stargazing. RSVP by contacting Tammy Mebane at tammymebane@sbcglobal.net or 216-2178.
