Sunday was a big day at Rancho Murieta Airport, with a display of vintage airplanes and an Experimental Aircraft Association Young Eagles event. While waiting for their ride in an airplane, Kylee, 7, and Jared Bettger, 10, along with their father, Bob Bettger, examined a 1944 Taylorcraft L-2M aircraft restored by Murieta pilot Dick Valladao. The Rancho Murieta EAA chapter holds several Young Eagles events each year, offering free rides to children between the ages of 7 and 17 to introduce them to aviation. Zac Bowers, who piloted one of the three planes that took children up into the clear blue skies, was once a Young Eagle himself. About 40 children participated in the event, organizers said.
