A Murieta family reported on Tuesday that its motor home was stolen from the Cantova Way mini-storage facility that had been hit by thieves twice already this year, most recently early this month.

Jerry Wall said he discovered on Monday that his motor home was gone along with all of its contents.  “It was full of dishes, binoculars, all my fishing gear, stoves, barbecues, on and on,” he said. He said the home had a 47-inch TV and two smaller TVs among its amenities.

Wall said he last checked on his vehicle following the Oct. 4 theft of a pickup truck, a collectible car and tools from the facility.

Security Officer Mike Scarzella, standing in for Chief Greg Remson, said the storage business is in the process of installing cameras and changing its access system, which requires a passcode to enter and exit.

In late January, a utility trailer, boat and two ATVs were reported stolen from the facility.

Mini Storage Thefts

In the process of installing cameras and changing access? That's closing the barn door after the horse got out!....If I had property here, I would run, not walk, to get it pulled out.

Not having 24/7 security until the changes are made is irresponsible on the part of the storage facility owners!

Irresponsible yes!

No kidding Terry, irresponsible indeed.  I swear I read that the owners had installed security devices after the ATV thefts back in Jan/Feb.   Well obviously not!   So it's about time, I hope the access codes will be individualized not a mass code and the cameras...I hope they have night vision!

Previous attempts

OMG....reading the RVT Security Logs - Oct. 11th:  Attempted entry.  Murieta Village mini storage.  Over past 3 weeks attempt was made to pry open locked door to 2 different motor homes.

I wonder if anyone contacted the owners of the motor homes to let them know?...and I'm surprised word didn't fly around the motor home community...one would think many know each other.

Murieta Mini Storage

Wow!!!!  Someone needs to get a handle on this problem......or, take your vehicles over to the Airport storage....they have cameras and better security.

These thefts are approaching 100K in loss and damage!!!!!!

Thefts

We're sorry to hear about the theft of your motor home Mr Wall.  It's infuriating and unfair. We have a community problem that requires, I think, a collaborative community solution.  Our security concerns have been addressed exceptionally well by Maple Leaf Properties in concert with PDF Security Solutions.  It's suprising and saddening to see a public pile on directed at a local business. I think we should point our efforts in a positive, solution oriented direction. RM may be Mayberry but we are in the 21st Century and need to constructively address 21st Century problems.

No one seems to want...

Well Nellie, no one seems to want our Security to have more power, it's been voted down several times....so we're between a rock and a hard place with residents.

Theft cont

I don't know Beth. More power to Security is a complex, possibly expensive, issue. Preventing property loss and presenting a united front is less so.
