Two vehicle thefts occurred overnight Monday, Security reports. A  golf cart was stolen from Carmella Circle in Murieta Village and a pickup truck was taken from nearby Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3 training center on Cantova Way. A second truck at the Operating Engineers parking lot was broken into and a Corvette at the Village location was gone through, according to Security Log entries.

Security Chief Greg Remson said Wednesday that the golf cart was recovered at Rancho Murieta Airport and returned to the owner, but the truck is still missing. California Highway Patrol was notified of the vehicle crimes.

“We don’t know if both instances were related. They could be,” Remson said. “It’s pretty unusual to have the theft of a golf cart and the theft of a vehicle. Very unusual.”

Remson said the golf cart key was in the ignition and he believes the vehicles that were entered were unlocked. “We encourage people not to get too lax. No matter where you are, things can happen, so the simple precaution is to not leave any valuables in your vehicles and keep them locked,” he said.

Stolen Golf cart from Village

Thanks to an alert resident of the Village, the golf cart that was taken from the Village was located at the airport.

Folks, we need to lock eveything up out here...we do not live in Oz anymore.....we don't know who lives in or near us. Get to know your neighbors and keep your eyes out for unusual goings on. It's the only way we can stem the crimes from happening.

Remember, we will be growing with the new homes and the hotel here, folks will be walking around and we have no idea who they are....if you hear/see something odd, call Security.

Lock it up and do not leave any valuables in your cars parked outside your home.

Be aware
