Bill Douros, Fishing Club founder, dies at 86

Bill DourosBasil (Bill) Douros, born in Boston and retired in Rancho Murieta, never lost the connection to his Greek heritage, whether it was telling “an old Greek story” or writing about his family’s old-country roots. Bill Lytle, golfer and fisherman, dies at 85

Al Brennan, 30-year Murietan, dies at 88

One of Al Brennan’s favorite places to eat was Sam’s Hof Brau in Sacramento, and while not all his children shared his love for prime rib sandwiches and coconut cream pie, when the family gathered after his death, everyone agreed, “Let’s go there, in memory of Pop.”  “So we went and celebrated Al’s birthday, the five kids and me … as a little, early memorial,” said Mary Brennan, his wife of 67 years. Alicerae Hanley, active volunteer, dies at 97

Alicerae Hanley, a former resident who pursued an active retirement that included golf, bridge and volunteerism, died in Sacramento on Feb. 4, a day before her 98th birthday. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Feb. 27 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, the church on Cantova Way that she helped found.
