Sloughhouse Inn

There are still a couple of events booked, but Saturday night was the last night of public operation for the Sloughhouse Inn under Mark and Betsy Hite, who’ve run the business for 14 months. The 160-year-old inn, once a stagecoach stop, has had a tough 21st century, dark most of that time. Betsy Hite, who was also the chef for this incarnation, circulated among the tables Saturday night, stopping here and there to exchange hugs. In a brief interview, she said the business hadn’t returned a profit since opening and they had to spend a substantial amount for building maintenance. She said there's not another restaurant operator in line to run the Sloughhouse Inn. Hite's catering business, based in Wilton, continues. (Click photo for larger image.) Will it be a Raley's, a Bel Air, a Nob Hill...?

When Raley’s announced last week that it would open a Rancho Murieta store, the announcement didn’t specify whether it would be a Raley’s, a Bel Air, a Nob Hill or a Food Source store. Raley’s operates under all of those brands.

While Raley’s hasn’t determined which of its store brands will open in Rancho Murieta, the company says it won’t be a Food Source, despite one rumor to the contrary.

“We will decide which brand for the site as we get closer to the open date,” Chelsea Minor, Raley’s director of public relations and public affairs, said in an email Monday. She added later, in response to a question about the rumor, “I can confirm it will not be a Food Source.” Read more » about Will it be a Raley's, a Bel Air, a Nob Hill...?
