With a new distributor’s first delivery Monday, Plaza Foods said the store is in the midst of resuming normal operations. Store employees worked a long day to restock shelves with frozen foods, canned goods, meats, dairy and more. Another delivery is due later this week. New Sloughhouse postmaster is sworn in

Lin Bryan, the new Sloughhouse postmaster, is sworn in outside the post office Wednesday morning by Karen Garner, area manager for post office operations. This is the first postmaster position for Bryan, who started as a letter carrier in 1997 and has climbed the ladder through a succession of jobs. She lives in Elk Grove but said she has been looking to move to this community for a couple of years. A dozen people were on hand, including, below, Bryan's son, Jacob, and sister, Anita Doyle.

Longtime area veterinarian retires suddenly

Sloughhouse Inn: Business has been sold

The owners of the Sloughhouse Inn announced on their Facebook page today that the business has been sold.

George Lee and his wife, Leah, reopened the Sloughhouse Inn in early 2013 after it had been dark nearly a decade.  The inn, a historic landmark, has operated on Jackson Road since the Gold Rush days in one form or another and more than one building.

Murieta Plaza sells for $6.42 million

The Sacramento Business Journal reported Tuesday that Murieta Plaza, Rancho Murieta's only retail center, sold for $6.42 million after an eight-month escrow that was complicated by the lack of recorded easements on the private roads that access the center -- Murieta Drive and Lone Pine Drive. Staff writer Kelly Johnson's blog says the 66,000-square-foot center last sold in 2003 for $7.78 million.
