A handful of representatives from the Sheriff’s Department attended Saturday’s annual gathering for newcomers – 16 this time – at Murieta Village. Double stripes and signage have been added to Jackson Road near Rancho Murieta.

The effort to impose a lower speed limit on Jackson Road between the gates is now dead, Supervisor Sue Frost’s office says, and as a result of that study, Caltrans has addressed safety concerns about another stretch of Jackson Road and made it a no-passing zone. Read more » Read more » about Lower speeds? Land practices called threat to Sloughhouse

Big turnout for Coffee With a Cop

Rick TompkinsNo, there wasn't a major crime in progress at the Local Bean Cafe Thursday morning. It was one of the Sheriff's Department's occasional Coffee With a Cop events, in which people get to meet officers and chat. There was a sizable contingent of sheriff's officers along with Sue Frost, the county supervisor who represents Rancho Murieta. The event started strong at 9 a.m. and was still going past its planned 11 a.m. closing time. Murieta Life: Bookmobile's weekly visits

Part of life in Rancho Murieta is the weekly visit by the Sacramento Public Library's Bookmobile. It stops in Murieta Village Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon. This Wednesday was the start of the library's Summer Reading program, aimed at kids, and Lyla Haviland, 9, couldn't wait to get started. The Bookmobile, which draws nearly 100 visitors on a typical stop in Rancho Murieta (more than some brick-and-mortar libraries), will deliver the books you request. (Click photo for larger image.)
