Caltrans says no to 45 mph on Hwy. 16

Despite requests from community organizations, the state Department of Transportation says it won’t reduce the Highway 16 speed limit from 55 to 45 mph in the Rancho Murieta area. Frost to hold Murieta meeting April 28

County Supervisor Sue Frost will host a community meeting in Rancho Murieta 9 a.m. April 28 at the Murieta Inn.  It's open to any Rancho Murieta resident. Frost will make a presentation on what's going on at the county, and then there will be time for questions and answers.  Frost will stay afterwards to talk to Murietans one-on-one if they want. Parks Committee sends trail plan to county

The community’s Parks Committee voted Thursday to send the county a development trails map endorsed by the Rancho Murieta Association and the Community Services District. CCPAC will review habitat conservation plan

The Cosumnes Community Planning Advisory Council will review the South Sacramento Habitat Conservation Plan at its meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 24). The conservation plan, which covers 317,655 acres, includes Rancho Murieta. It is intended “to minimize impacts to and permanently conserve the native species and all natural communities of the Planning Area, while allowing for planned future urban development and other Covered Activities that comply with local policies and regulations,” according to the plan website. CCPAC is a volunteer planning advisory group that makes recommendations to Sacramento County Planning and Environmental Review. Surprise Scott Road work continues

[Update in the comments] As many Murietans have learned the hard way, county road crews have been working on Scott Road, and backing up traffic, for the last two days. There have been no official announcements about the work. We are told, unofficially, that it will continue Thursday. We are trying to get confirmation of the county's work plans from Supervisor Sue Frost's office. In the meantime, you can check the RM.com traffic map to see the state of Scott Road backups.
