Internet safety training offered Monday

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is offering an awareness training session to help protect personal information from internet access and prevent identity theft. Sheriff’s Detective Sean Smith will show how personal information is obtained from the internet. Second Murietan named to county board

John Merchant, a longtime resident who has served as president of the Community Services District and Rancho Murieta Association boards, has been appointed to a two-year term on the Cosumnes Community Planning Advisory Council by Sacramento County Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan. Merchant is one of two representatives from Rancho Murieta on the nine-member board. RMA President Jim Moore joined the group last year.

A chance to dispose of unwanted medications

Residents are encouraged to get rid of unwanted, outdated medications safely by contacting the James L. Noller Safety Center at 354-8509 by Friday, Sept. 26, to make arrangements to drop off medications or have them picked up by local members of Volunteers in Partnership with the Sheriff.  The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department-Central Division is partnering with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration in an effort to keep medications out of landfills and waterways.
