RM will be sprayed Wednesday for West Nile

Spraying to combat West Nile virus will take place Wednesday evening in Rancho Murieta South, in the area of the drainage basin known as Lost Lake, bordered by Reynosa Drive and the South Course's 5th green.

The Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito & Vector Control District notified Security about the spraying Tuesday.  A Vector Control representative said spraying, with backpack foggers and hand sprayers, will take place at sunset, around 7:45 p.m.

Stonehouse Road paving work next week

County gives final approval to RM hotel plan

As expected, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors this week unanimously approved a plan to build a hotel in Rancho Murieta after voting tentative approval June 10. The plan amended a project the supervisors approved in 2011, adding a four-story, 83-room hotel and 24 extended-stay condominiums to Murieta Gardens, a commercial and residential development planned for 53 acres across from Murieta Plaza. Details of the board action Tuesday and information about the hotel project are in the meeting summary. RMA, CSD, county meetings this week

The Rancho Murieta Association and Community Services District boards hold their monthly meetings this week.  Among the agenda items are the CSD board's vote on a contract with a new general manager. The RMA meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the RMA Building and the CSD meets at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the CSD Building. In addition, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors will consider two items involving Rancho Murieta at its meeting Tuesday.

County gives tentative OK to RM hotel

D.A. candidate campaigns in Murieta

Anne Marie Schubert

Anne Marie Schubert, running for Sacramento County district attorney, answered questions for 15 people in a meet-and-greet Tuesday evening at the RMA Building.  Schubert, an assistant district attorney who has been in the D.A.'s office for 24 years, was introduced by former Sheriff Glen Craig.  She said the biggest challenge facing law enforcement is realignment -- the state effort to reduce the number of people behind bars, which she predicted will mean more crime as criminals are released to the community.  Schubert emphasized her experience, saying she has handled more than 100 jury trials, supervised other members of the office and headed up the child-abuse unit.  She faces two candidates in the June election.  Schubert has won the backing of the Bee as well as District Attorney Jan Scully, Sheriff Scott Jones, several former judges and others. County planners approve RM hotel project

CSD General Manager Ed Crouse answered the Planning Commission's questions about infrastructure.

The hotel project planned for property across from Murieta Plaza won the recommendation of the Sacramento County Planning Commission Monday. A Rancho Murieta Community Services District representative told the planners construction contracts for a needed water treatment plant won't be awarded until developers come to the table with their share of funding. County plans hearing on RM hotel proposal

The Sacramento County Planning Commission will hold a hearing next week to consider the Murieta Gardens hotel and extended stay project. While the county planning staff report recommends approval, it raises a question about the adequacy of water treatment capacity for the project.  The Rancho Murieta Community Services District granted provisional water service for the project until the new water treatment plant is constructed.
