Dog fight fatal to small dog

According to the Rancho Murieta Security Department, a Yorkshire terrier was killed and its owner was injured after the small dog ran at a pit bull Saturday afternoon in Murieta North and a fight ensued.

The security log entry for the incident gives the time of the incident as 3:01 p.m. and reads: "LOOSE DOG/ DOG FIGHT / LAGO DRIVE, CART PATH, YORKIE GOT LOOSE AND RAN AT LEASHED PIT BULL, YORKIE WAS KILLED, YORKIE OWNER SUFFERED A HAND LACERATION WHILE TRYING TO SEPARATE DOGS, MEDICAL RESPONSE DECLINED, BOTH OWNERS DECLINED ANIMAL CONTROL INVOLVEMENT." Neighbor thanks Security and firefighters for addressing fire

At Tuesday's Security Committee meeting at the Community Services District, Security Chief Greg Remson's report on incidents in the community during December included a chimney fire that occurred at a home on Via Sereno the evening of Dec. 30. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the structure fire.

Bob Tauber sent an email and pictures of the fire at his neighbor's home to Remson. Tauber noted that Security patrol officers were the first on the scene and helped the occupants of the home, taking charge until fire crews arrived.

Presents taken in burglary on Rio Oso Drive

A home was burglarized at midday Thursday on Rio Oso Drive, Rancho Murieta Security reported. Property taken included two wrapped Christmas presents containing perfume and a computer dictation system. Two bottles of white wine were also taken. Reminder: Alarm systems require a county permit

Security shares the reminder that if your Rancho Murieta home or business has a burglar or robbery alarm, you're obliged to get a county permit.  The permit is issued by the Sheriff's Department, and there's more about the requirements online. Visitor passes available for Mother's Day

Due to the high volume of guest traffic on Mother's Day weekend, pre-passes are available at the Rancho Murieta Association Office during regular business hours. The passes are similar to the passes used for the 4th of July. Pre-passing will help speed entrance through the gates and eliminate backups, especially at the North Gate.
