Crash

A young man was trapped in his vehicle for five hours early Friday after the car tumbled off De La Cruz Drive and crashed, roof first, into a tree on the edge of the 9th fairway.  CHP Officer Jack Lowder said neighbors heard a crash about 1:30 a.m. but saw no signs of an accident.  The accident was reported at 6:29 a.m.  Lowder said when crews arrived, they found a young man, in his late teens, who was unresponsive. “He was obviously traveling at a high rate of speed,” said Lowder, who called it a possible DUI.  There were skid marks on the street leading to the crash scene, which is not easily visible from De La Cruz.  Chris Quinn, Sac Metro Fire batallion chief, said crews cut the man from the silver BMW.  The victim was air-lifted to the hospital, Quinn said.   A woman who lives in the area said speeding is common along De La Cruz, the main street in the Fairways neighborhood, and neighbors are getting up a petition to bring CHP enforcement to the area. A string of accidents between the gates

Accident

Three accidents involving multiple vehicles started about 7:45 a.m. Wednesday between Rancho Murieta's North Gate and the Highway 16 bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol. A CHP officer at the scene said no one was taken to the hospital. Jasper Begay, the CHP's public information officer, said an officer was directing traffic after the first accident when a truck pulling a trailer "came in too fast and slid to the right," almost hitting the CHP officer's vehicle before running off the road.  "And then the third crash occurred just shortly after that," Begay said.  A CHP officer at the scene said two fire trucks were parked on the westbound shoulder near the bridge to protect emergency workers and people involved in the accident who were in danger of being hit by rubbernecking motorists. Vehicles were towed to clear the area by about 10 a.m. Read more » about A string of accidents between the gates

A man died after he fell from a golf cart following Saturday night's music concert in Rancho Murieta, according to the CHP.  It's possible the cart had been stolen.

The man, who suffered head injuries, was not a Murieta resident, according to Security.  CHP would not release the man's identity Monday but said he was a passenger in the cart.  The cart driver has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to CHP Officer Tony Montano.  The driver was a guest at the concert too, Security said.

Chief Greg Remson said Security got a report shortly before midnight about the accident, on the access road between Camino Del Lago and Lake Clementia. Read more » about Man dies after fall from golf cart, CHP says

A car ran into the Murieta South sound wall on Jackson Road at 6 p.m. Monday.  Security Chief Greg Remson said there were no injuries.  He said the driver blamed the crash on an animal in the road. The vehicle punched out a piece of wall, and damage to homes nearby on Topspin Way was probably caused by flying debris, Remson said. CHP took a report and the vehicle was towed.
