Country Club brings Pablo Cruise back to Rancho Murieta

Rancho Murieta Country Club's 40th anniversary celebration Oct. 8-9 includes a return visit from Pablo Cruise, who had hits in the ‘70s and ‘80s like  “Love Will Find a Way” and "Whatcha Gonna Do (When She Says Goodbye).”  There's more information about the club's weekend-long event here. Country Club outlines fun and games for 40th anniversary

Clydesdale stops off at the Club

Everybody had the chance to get their picture taken with a Clydesdale horse before the start of a charity golf tournament at the Country Club Monday morning, although the little ones sometimes needed a little coaxing to approach the gentle giant. The tournament is a fundraiser hosted by the Walter Charitable Fund to benefit the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration Research for a Cure. North Course landmark collapses

Neighbors on De La Cruz Drive who investigated a loud noise Sunday evening discovered a ramshackle outbuilding at the edge of the North Course's third fairway had collapsed. According to author Naida West, who lives next to the course on the remaining Granlees ranch property, the building is the largest of several frame structures located between the golf course and her property that date from the 1930s and '40s, when the property was a working ranch. For golfers, it has been part of the scenery on the North Course forever, and that didn't change, at least immediately, after it fell down. Read more » about North Course landmark collapses

Star power on the driving range

Scott McCarronSeveral hundred people turned out Friday afternoon as Rancho Murieta Country Club hosted a driving-range golf clinic run by PGA Tour pro (and former Murietan) Scott McCarron.  Addressing the crowd for nearly an hour, McCarron offered golf tips, hit some shots, talked about his fellow pros and took questions.  The clinic was followed by a fashion show on the range and food and drinks on the patio.

Scott McCarron to hold clinic at Country Club April 22

Pro golfer Scott McCarron, a former Rancho Murieta resident, will conduct a golf clinic at the driving range 5 p.m. April 22.   The whole community is invited to the event, which includes a fashion show, raffle and live entertainment afterwards on the Country Club's main terrace.  The event is free, and food and beverages will be available for purchase. The Snake Chase Tournament at the Country Club Sunday jump-started St. Patrick's Day festivities. It was an occasion not just for the wearing o' the green, but for having a bit o' fun doing it as demonstrated at the clubhouse by couples Bill and Pat Lytle, above, and Dewayne and Martha Bryant, below, and a brightly decorated golf cart.

Comic has Murieta Room rocking with laughter

Comedian Jack Gallagher, known for years of stand-up, TV and movie appearances, brought big laughs to the Murieta Room Saturday night. He entertained a full house with stories about things we’ve all experienced, like bad jobs, visiting the doctor’s office and running your head into Dolly Parton’s breasts.
