"Tee Up Fore the Cure," the 12th Annual Susan G. Komen Foundation fundraiser, was held at Rancho Murieta Country Club Sunday, and, for the first time in memory, it rained for the record-setting event, which raised over $60,000 last year. But nobody's spirit was dampened, even if their clothes and hair were, and hardships that were suffered on the course only added to the camaraderie back at the clubhouse when everyone gathered for cocktails, auctions and dinner. We've got a gallery of 22 photos.Read more » about Rain doesn't dampen spirits at Komen Foundation fundraiser

Fellow Country Club members congratulated Don Thames and Gary Ramsden and wished them well at a reception the club held in their honor Thursday evening before they head off for the USGA Senior Amateur Championship. A raffle and silent auction raised about $2,000 to help with their expenses. The championship takes place Oct. 2-7 at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club in Orlando, FL. "We're extremely proud of them," President Vince Lepera said as he introduced the two. Speaking of Cheri, his wife, Ramsden said, "Without her, this could not have happened." He alluded to the rarity of having two members qualify for the event, saying, "What happened here is pretty incredible," and he thanked the club. Thames said, "This community we have here in Rancho Murieta is pretty special. This club we have in Rancho Murieta is special." In thanking his wife, Carole, Thames noted she is also his caddy.Read more » about Club honors two members as they head off to compete at USGA tournament
The Country Club honored the '50s with Hot August Nights of Rancho Murieta Saturday evening. There was a diner-themed dinner (burgers, dogs, floats, sundaes and more), followed by entertainment by the Fabulous DeVilles. Many in the crowd wore '50s attire to the Murieta Room event -- even jeans. (We are checking international news sources to make sure the world has not come to an end.) There's a photo gallery too, with 31 shots of people who were there. Read more » about Serving up the '50s, Murieta-style
