The Rancho Murieta Community Services District is moving ahead on two fronts to manage the recycled wastewater it supplies to the Country Club for the golf courses. An operating manual will spell out the responsibilities of the club and the CSD, and a permit could become an insurance policy for disposing of excess wastewater. True golfers aren't deterred by the weather, so despite 105-degree heat, more than 50 junior golfers competed Sunday in the annual Country Club putting contest conducted by the Rancho Murieta Women's Golf Club. Tessa Faeth, 6, tested her skills at a Harry Potter-themed hole, where the helpful hint was to "aim towards the owl." Other hole themes paid homage to Snoopy, Cinderella, Star Wars and the islands.

Country Club show launches the 4th

Pianist and singer Spencer Day, left, made his second visit to the Country Club this year, performing in the Murieta Room Friday night to kick off the July 4 weekend and to launch his third CD, "Vagabond."  About 150 people were on hand for the show, a blend of jazz, rock and pop, much of it Day's own compositions.  He did songs from his albums and lighthearted numbers that invoked unlikely subjects like Marie Antoinette and Mary Todd Lincoln.  Where he once salted his shows with Tin Pan Alley standards, Friday night he offered pop-rock standards, like the Turtles' "Happy Together," the Association's "Never My Love" and one of the encores, Skeeter Davis' "The End of the World." Country Club offers Supper Club show

Dave JenkinsThe Rancho Murieta Country Club Supper Club hosts the Bueno Brothers for an evening of jazz, soft rock, world and Hawaiian music at the 19th Hole Saturday. Musicians Dave Jenkins of Pablo Cruise (photo), slack key and steel guitarist Ken Emerson and guitarist and vocalist Lorin Rowan perform at 8:30 p.m.

Dinner will be served from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Call Cheryl at 354-3400 for reservations. The event is open to club members and their guests.

A tournament to fight breast cancer

The Rancho Murieta Country Club hosted the 10th annual "Tee Up Fore a Cure" tournament Sunday to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. About 235 club members and their guests played in the tournament on the North and South courses, and over 260 attended the dinner that followed, organizers said. Participants had the opportunity to bid on tables of auction items displayed at the clubhouse. All the items were donated. Last year's event raised over $50,000 for the cause. Country Club holds open house Sunday

The Rancho Murieta Country Club is holding an open house for the public Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the clubhouse. The event provides an opportunity to meet the club's new general manager, Stan Korich. Complimentary beer, wine, soft drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
