'No Trespassing' signs are an effort to address nighttime partying

The Pension Trust Fund, owners of the undeveloped land in Rancho Murieta North, has installed "NO TRESPASSING" signs at the entrance to their properties in the back area of the community.

This follows complaints about nighttime parties and bonfires in the back area near the east edge of the community's land. Security has reported past conversations with the PTF about addressing this with gates, fences, CC&Rs, rock barriers or signs. The signs are the PTF's response, according to Security Chief Greg Remson.

He said Wednesday that after-dark presence or campfires on PTF property will be treated as trespassing, and the sheriff's department may be called for assistance. Read more » about 'No Trespassing' signs are an effort to address nighttime partying

Jim Cooper

Sheriff's Captain Jim Cooper met with three dozen people at an ice cream social Saturday afternoon to talk about the issues in his run to become sheriff.  He spoke and fielded questions for about 45 minutes at the Rancho Murieta Jim CooperAssociation Building, emphasizing the need for patrols in this part of the county and two-person units on later shifts.  He said the department needs to restore the Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) officers, who know the community and local problems, and he supported public-private partnerships and service centers staffed by volunteers.  He referred to his experience in 26 years with the sheriff's department and as a member of the Elk Grove City Council.  This meeting was initially rejected by the RMA, which said political meetings aren't allowed.  Cooper's opponent, sheriff’s Captain Scott Jones, will meet the community at the RMA Building 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17. Sheriff John McGinness will introduce Jones.
