Thieves hit four unlocked vehicles overnight in Rancho Murieta North, taking a purse from one.

Three of the incidents occurred at the Villas, and the other happened on Rio Circle, according to a Volunteers in Partnership with the Sheriff volunteer, who took the reports.   The purse, taken from the vehicle on Rio Circle, was found later by a neighbor.  It was the only report of an item of value being taken.

Security Chief Greg Remson has repeated the same advice after each past theft from cars in the community -- lock your vehicles.  Here's how he said it after a string of robberies: Read more » about Thieves hit four vehicles overnight in Murieta North

South is hit in second night of car break-ins

Car break-ins continued in the community for the second night with two overnight incidents on the South, Security reported Friday.

The difference between the break-ins on Colbert Drive and the seven break-ins reported Thursday on the North is the cars were parked in the garage, not in the driveway. The thieves entered the garages through unlocked side doors, according to Security Chief Greg Remson.

Purses and a man's wallet were among the items taken from the vehicles, Remson said. The wallet was recovered at the scene, but the purses are still missing, he said Friday afternoon. He was unsure of the total amount of the loss.

Remson said the thefts were reported to the Sheriff's Department and deputies plan to provide extra patrols for the community. Read more » about South is hit in second night of car break-ins
