Bridge hit by graffiti vandals -- again

For the second time in the two months since it opened, the community's landmark bridge has been hit by graffiti vandals.

Cleaning up

It happened overnight, Security Chief Greg Remson reported Friday.  By midday, RMA maintenance workers -- from left, Bruce Bragg, Troy Schaffner and Trevor Hammonds -- were cleaning up the mess, at the bridge's north end.  The Security photo below shows the amount of graffiti.

Remson asked that anyone with information contact Security at 354-CARE.  "We'd like to hear from people who know anything, or if their kids know anything," he said.  (Previous incident is here.)

Heavy equipment finds its way home -- unharmed

It may not have crept in on little cat feet, but the quiet reappearance of a 40-foot-long Caterpillar tractor-scraper at the Murieta Equine Center last week was certainly sudden and unexpected.

When the $150,000 piece of heavy equipment was stolen from a construction project at the complex July 26, Mike Buchanan, owner of the Buchanan Company in Elk Grove, feared it would turn up destroyed, if it turned up at all.

Instead, the Caterpillar 623B was undamaged when it showed up early Tuesday morning and its meter showed only an hour’s use. Buchanan credits the outcome to the fact that he acted on information he received after the theft indicating he might have been confused with another contractor, and the equipment may have been taken as payback in a dispute. $150,000 piece of construction equipment stolen from Equine Center

A large piece of heavy equipment was stolen from the Murieta Equine Center about 7 p.m. Thursday. Three cars vandalized on Guadalupe Drive

Vandals inflicted over $1,000 worth of damage Monday night to two 2006 Cadillacs in the driveway of Jon and Susan Snyder's home on Guadalupe Drive.

After six months of remodeling their home, with their cars parked in the drive, the Snyders were on the verge of reclaiming space in the garage for their cars when vandals struck.

"You just don't think of things like this happening in this neighborhood," Jon Snyder said. "It's so frustrating."
