Extra effort to thwart Halloween vandals

Rancho Murieta is bringing on extra patrol help to address potential trick-or-treat troublemakers. The Country Club, which has had more than its share of vandalism lately, said it’s hiring two off-duty deputies to patrol the courses Friday and Saturday night. The community’s Security operation will have an off-duty deputy of its own on Saturday, along with an extra Security officer, one in training, the Community Services District said. Man charged with illegal-weapon possession

An 18-year-old Rancho Murieta man was arrested recently after he allegedly pointed an illegal automatic weapon at acquaintances at Lake Clementia.

Chief Greg Remson said Security received a complaint at the North Gate from someone who said a resident pointed a rifle at him. Remson said the incident occurred at Lake Clementia among a group of three or four people who knew one another and were at the lake together.

Deputies responded to a Security call just before 6 p.m. Jan. 17, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Lisa Bowman, who said prior to the sheriff’s department arrival, Security officers had located the suspect vehicle and removed both occupants from the vehicle at gunpoint. Questions and answers on halfway house

The Rancho Murieta Association turned over its October board meeting to GEO Reentry Services for a half-hour presentation on the company’s proposal to lease the Boys Ranch facility from Sacramento County to serve as a halfway house for federal offenders.
