CSD board to vote on handling DUI stops

The Rancho Murieta Community Services District board holds its monthly meeting  5 p.m. Wednesday at the CSD Building. Board actions include voting on a policy for Security patrol officers to make DUI vehicle stops. The board will also vote to place delinquent accounts for CSD water, sewer, drainage, security and trash collection services on the county tax rolls for collection after a public hearing set for 5:30 p.m. The meeting includes a consultant's presentation on a water shortage contingency plan for the district that covers drought stages. Burglary leads string of security incidents

Residents returned home Sunday to find their Venado Drive home had been burglarized and numerous items of value were missing. The missing items included cash, jewelry, electronics, a laptop and more, according to Security. Security Chief Greg Remson said there were no signs of forced entry and "the house wasn't ransacked at all, which is a little bit odd."

The Sheriff's Department was contacted, and sheriff's crime scene investigators came to the scene, according to the security logs. Remson recommended residents make sure their doors are locked and, if there's an alarm system, to use it. Read more » about Burglary leads string of security incidents

Two vandalism incidents may have been attempted copper thefts, Security says

Vandalism that occurred Sunday at Granlees Dam and Lake Clementia Park may have been an attempt at copper theft,  Security Chief Greg Remson said at the Community Services District board meeting Wednesday.  Remson said multiple locks and chains had been cut at both locations, apparently with heavy-duty bolt cutters.

After cutting the chain and lock that secure a gate on the river side of the Granlees Dam pump facility, "someone went inside of the fenced area, cut two locks that were on the main circuit panel and shut off the main power supply.  But nothing else was taken or disturbed," Remson said. "There was no entry or sign of attempted forced entry to the building containing measuring devices and equipment." SMUD cleans up damage from stolen crane

SMUD crews worked on Jackson Road near Davis Ranch Thursday afternoon to repair damage caused by a stolen construction crane around 1 a.m. The crane snapped utility poles and tree limbs and took out overhead traffic signals between Grantline and Dillard roads before California Highway Patrol officers apprehended the driver. The incident left Rancho Murieta without power for several hours overnight and shut down Jackson Road for a time. Security discusses vehicle citations and rattlesnakes

Deputies respond to erroneous report of gunshots

Security and deputies responded about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday after a report that two gunshots had been heard at the Villas in Rancho Murieta North, according to CSD Security.  It was later determined that the noise was toy noisemakers, Security reported later.  A red truck was reportedly seen leaving the area, and soon after sheriff's patrol cars had surrounded a red truck at the gas pumps at the Country Store at Jackson Road and the North Gate. Presents taken in burglary on Rio Oso Drive

A home was burglarized at midday Thursday on Rio Oso Drive, Rancho Murieta Security reported. Property taken included two wrapped Christmas presents containing perfume and a computer dictation system. Two bottles of white wine were also taken. Security responds to report of prowler

Security responded to Rio Circle around 9:45 p.m. Saturday after a call from a pre-teen boy who said he was home alone and he believed there was a prowler outside.  The area was checked -- no one was found -- but young people in a golf cart were causing a commotion on the street.  That prompted Security to bring a second patrol car to the area.  The boy who made the original call was placed under adult supervision until his parents returned, Security said. Boys report being approached by stranger in car

Two 13-year-old boys say they were approached in Rancho Murieta South by a male stranger who asked if they wanted a ride in his car and offered them candy to get in.  Instead, Security says, the boys ran and hid until the car drove off and then went home and told their parents.
