Emergency vehicles at South Gate follow assault on firefighter

The deployment of sheriff’s, fire and Security vehicles at Rancho Murieta’s South Gate late Saturday morning was part of the arrest of a Rancho Murieta man who assaulted a firefighter at Station 59, officials said.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Chief Charles Jenkins said “a gentleman with emotional issues” was kicking at the door of Station 59, across from the North Gate, and then assaulted a firefighter who responded.  The man was arrested and charged with vandalism and assault, Jenkins said. Grieving family seeks return of stolen camera

A couple grieving the loss of their son is offering a $100 reward for the return of his camera, which was stolen last weekend from an unlocked car parked in the driveway of their Venado Drive home.  Candice and Richard Ray's son Michael died suddenly May 14 at the age of 29. The Panasonic Lumix digital camera contained pictures he'd taken.

"That's why it's so important to get back. The sentimental value in the family of that camera is priceless to us," said Candice Ray.  "It's not worth a lot to anybody else, I'm sure. Security: 11-year-olds caught in vandalism; thieves target golf clubs

The Rancho Murieta Association’s recent decision to install cameras at the parks paid off when suspects were caught on video breaking out glass blocks at the Riverview Park restroom.  Three suspects were identified from the surveillance video. They were two girls and a boy, all age 11, Security Chief Greg Remson said Tuesday. He also outlined a string of golf-club thefts in which the clubs apparently are being sold by the thieves. CSD offers rewards for crime tips

The Rancho Murieta Community Services District is offering rewards of up to $1,000 for tips about crimes that occur in the district.  "Anyone with information on the recent graffiti vandalism and thefts from vehicles can submit a tip through WeTip and be eligible for a reward," Security Chief Greg Remson wrote in an email announcing the program. Rewards up to $1,000 are provided for convictions made through the use of WeTip.

The CSD joined the WeTip program through its insurance company, Golden State Risk Management Authority, which funds the rewards distributed by WeTip. Read more » about CSD offers rewards for crime tips

Security reports 15 thefts from cars in January

There were 15 thefts from unlocked vehicles reported in January, Security Chief Greg Remson told the Community Services District Security Committee Friday. "These seem to be crimes of opportunity, and preventable crimes," he said. No one has been arrested in the thefts.  Also, Security received a package apparently returning stolen items.
