County set to act on Murieta development project

Murieta Gardens, a commercial and residential project proposed for 53 acres across from the Plaza, goes to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors for approval Wednesday. The supervisors voted to tentatively approve the project last month. The project includes a shopping center, 95 single-family homes and a storage facility. The hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the County Administration Building, 700 H St., Suite 1450, Sacramento.

Village group takes lead on repairs of Murieta Drive

The Rancho Murieta Association board caught up on the status of Murieta Gardens at a special meeting last week. When the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors held a hearing last month to consider approving the project -- a residential and commercial development proposed for 53 acres across from Murieta Plaza -- the issues that emerged included the condition of Murieta Drive, which is part of the property, and access to RMA parks for the residents of the 95 single-family homes that are planned. The county meeting on a Rancho Murieta development drew a large chunk of its audience from Murieta Village.

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors postponed taking action Wednesday on a shopping center and residential project proposed for 53 acres across from Murieta Plaza. Supervisors continued the hearing to June 22 after a staff presentation on the project and testimony from several speakers who raised issues about future residents’ access to parks, the proximity of homes to Rancho Murieta Airport, and the need to repair and maintain Murieta Drive, which is part of the Murieta Gardens property. A handful of Murietans spoke out Wednesday night against a commercial kennel proposed for the corner of Stonehouse and Jackson roads, across from Rancho Murieta’s southwestern edge. Following the comments, the Cosumnes Community Planning Advisory Council unanimously endorsed the kennel if a number of conditions are met. RMA says it's on verge of getting PTF funding for North Gate

The stalemate over a design for the North Gate remodel is expected to end soon and the Rancho Murieta Association will be in charge of the project, RMA General Manager Nick Arther reported at the first Joint Security Committee meeting of the new year.
