Supervisors ready to act on North development projects

Three developments proposed for Murieta North go before the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors for action 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The supervisors certified the environmental document for the Residences of Murieta Hills East and West and the Retreat projects on a 4-1 vote at a hearing in October. Supervisor Don Nottoli, whose district includes Rancho Murieta, cast the sole dissenting vote.  Comments by the supervisors at that session indicated Wednesday's vote will be similar.

Bob and Kay Lynn say their home, which they've owned for five years, began showing cracks almost as soon as they moved in. It's one of a hundred homes in the South built since 2000 that have had severe problems with cracking. After years of addressing problems, the builder, Reynen & Bardis, is telling the homeowners that further repairs need to be done by the warranty company.

The house on Murieta South Parkway was about a year old when Bob and Kay Lynn bought it as a second home in 2002. Read more » about After addressing dozens of cracked homes, builder tells homeowners to seek warranty coverage instead

County indicates approval but stops just short of OK for North developments

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors pulled up just short Tuesday afternoon of voting to approve 282 homes for three developments in Rancho Murieta North.

The board certified the environmental impact report for the projects, and comments by a majority of the board indicated approval of the projects is likely.

The vote was 4-1 to accept the environmental document, with only Supervisor Don Nottoli, who represents Murieta, opposing it. Final action on the projects was delayed until a handful of conditions on the developments can be worked out.

The board scheduled its next action on the proposals for 3 p.m. Dec. 5. Read more » about County indicates approval but stops just short of OK for North developments

The Parks Committee will set priorities for parks projects at its 4 p.m. meeting Thursday at the Rancho Murieta Association Building.

"It's a little problematic because you don't have the funds until those events occur," said development representative Robert J. Cassano of Cassano Kamilos Homes at the July Parks Committee meeting. Read more » about Parks Committee considers projects and funding Aug. 23

Landowners urge CSD to help foster community-driven master plan

A modest Community Services District staff proposal to participate in updating the community's master plan was eclipsed at Wednesday's board meeting by a development representative's 10-step plan for a full update controlled and driven by community interests.

The starting point for both proposals was the July 18 meeting of the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, where the supervisors supported a planning staff recommendation for a minor update of the master plan. Read more » about Landowners urge CSD to help foster community-driven master plan

CSD maps a plan to handle wastewater and development

After a half-dozen meetings over four months, the Community Services District board of directors has approved a plan for millions of dollars in options to deal with wastewater as the community grows.

CSD policy requires developers to pay their own way, but the realities of the highly regulated world of wastewater management mean everyone has a monetary stake in the decisions that are made now and 10 years from now. Read more » about CSD maps a plan to handle wastewater and development
