SMUD digs

Repairs continued Thursday after an electrical problem overnight at Puerto Drive and Camino Del Lago.  A SMUD worker said an underground power line failed and blew out a fuse on one of the utility poles seen at left, causing a small grass fire that brought fire crews to the scene about 11 p.m. Wednesday.  SMUD worked Thursday to locate and repair the line.  Power was restored to residents almost instantly, but the outage impacted a booster pump station at the Rio Oso water tank.  A backup generator was being used at the pump station.  Thursday afternoon, fire crews were called to nearby Orilla and Agua Vista to address smoke coming from a home’s newly installed light fixture.  They removed roof tiles to make sure there was nothing smoldering between the ceiling and roof.
